Activate Your Course

Pilot Tip of the Week

Your students won’t be able to see your course until you activate it. The courses are set, by default, to be inactive. Even if you don’t want your course to be available until the first day of the semester, you still have to activate it for the students to be allowed access. Here’s how:

Open your course.

Click on Course Admin.

Click on Course Offering Information.

Check the box next to “Course is active”.

SETTING THE COURSE OPENING DATE

If you want to email your students, or allow them access to your course before the first day of the semester, you will have to change the Course Start Date. If you don’t make any changes to the date, the course will be visible to your students on the first day of the semester (as long as it is activated…see above). If you try to email your students before the the first day of classes, (or before the Course Start Date), they won’t receive the email. Here’s how to change the Course Start Date:

Open your course.

Click on Course Admin.

You don’t have to change your Course End Date. It is set to close students’ access to the course approximately two weeks after the end of the semester. If you want to keep the course open past the date that shows under Course End Date, check the box and change the date. Don’t forget to save your changes.
