Remote Teaching Tips & Sips: Thursday, September 3, 2020

Tips & Sips

Led by Lisa Kenyon, Ph.D., associate professor of biological sciences and faculty director of Center for Teaching and Learning; Carolyn Stoermer, teaching innovation coordinator, Center for Teaching and Learning and lecturer of English language and literature; and Jonathan Zemmer, instructional designer, Center for Teaching and Learning.

Our teaching has transformed. We are teaching remotely via live Collaborate Ultra break-out rooms or Webex sessions, using asynchronous group videos to share presentations and develop community interactions, and even teaching in-person via physical distancing while simultaneously broadcasting live to remote students. These are only a few of the ways we are teaching students this fall. It’s the perfect time to get together to share challenges, successes, and "I’ll never do that again!"

Please join us for Tips and Sips, a virtual safe space for faculty to grab a drink, get a snack, and drop in on a Webex session to chat about experiences. Each session will focus on a specific topic with a brief 10- to 15-minute presentation, followed by group discussion and sharing of ideas. This Tips and Sips session topic is Strategies to Support Student Participation and Discussion in a Virtual Classroom.
