SSL Encryption:
Configuring your Macintosh E-mail Client
The latest versions of most e-mail clients support SSL encryption. Below are instructions for configuring accounts using several popular e-mail clients. Also, here's a brief description of mail protocols, so that you can determine which one you use, or would like to use.
SMTP - SMTP is the protocol for sending e-mail. Everyone will use this one, and should already have it setup for SSL, since CaTS has required this since 2006.
IMAP - IMAP is one of the protocols for receiving e-mail. With IMAP, messages are kept on the WSU mail server unless you delete them from the server.
POP - POP is another protocol for receiving e-mail. With POP, however, messages are downloaded to your computer and removed from the WSU mail server.
If you don't find your e-mail client on this list, or you are unable to configure your e-mail client successfully, please contact the CaTS Help Desk by calling 775-4827,1-888-775-4827, or sending e-mail to helpdesk@wright.edu.
