Synching the Portal Calendar with a Palm Pilot/PDA
Macintosh version

Your iCal calendar uses the .ics file format to name its files. To be able to import and export from iCal to your WINGS calendar, you first must save your iCal calendar on your Mac. You can save the calendar file on your desktop, or in a folder on your hard drive that you create.

Here’s how to save your iCal calendar on your desktop, for example:

• With iCal launched, select the File menu. Then select Export. Select a name you wish to call this calendar file, and where you want to place the file, such as the desktop in this example. Once you’ve done this, the iCal calendar file is created on the desktop, and its name is followed with the .ics extension.

Import to WINGS:

• Log in to WINGS
• Open the WINGS Calendar application
• Select the Options tab
• Under Calendar Options on the left, choose Import
• Under Event Destination, click on the drop-down menu and select your username
• Leave the Import Format as: iCal
• Click on the Choose File button. A window will open, allowing you to navigate to the location of the iCal calendar you saved previously (with the .ics extension on the end). Choose this file
• Click the Import button at the bottom right corner of this page
• Click on the View tab to see the results

If you wish, you can also specify a date range while you are importing your iCal calendar to WINGS, which can allow you to fine-tune the information that is imported.

Export from WINGS:

To export your .ics calendar file from your WINGS calendar, follow the above steps, but choose Export under Calendar Options. WINGS will export your calendar to the same folder where you originally saved your iCal calendar (on the desktop, in our example at the top of this page). Note that when your WINGS calendar is exported, it will immediately launch iCal. If you do not want redundant information copied from your WINGS calendar to iCal, simply close iCal when it launches.
