Program Description:

An Associate of Arts Degree in Sociology prepares students for articulation or transfer to a baccalaureate degree program. The student who earns this degree typically has a career that involves dealing with people, often working for large businesses or organizations or in community service, public relations, teaching, or research.

Students may also want to consider continuing toward a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership at the Lake Campus or continuing with their Sociology degree at the Dayton campus.

Admission Requirements: You are expected to satisfy all “success marker” courses, grades, and GPAs as specified. This suggested plan for two-year graduation does not replace regular advising appointments. Some course offerings may change.

Program Learning Objectives
 
Students pursuing an Associate of Arts in Sociology will learn to:
- develop competency in research, survey creation, theory application, problem analysis, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and written communication.
- prepare for entry-level employment or matriculation into a sociology baccalaureate degree program.

*Through 1020 level (1010, 1020) of one language:  Spanish, French, German, Greek, Latin, Chinese, American Sign Language, or other. Students taking American Sign Language should be advised that ASL 1010 and 1020 meet for (4) rather than (3) credit hours each.
