Important Student Employment Updates
April 18, 2013
Wright State University administrators continue to work daily on all matters relevant to the impacts of Health Care legislation related to our student employee population. In order to consider all options for making decisions that are in the best interest of the majority of our student employee population it has been determined that more information, data & time are needed. Therefore, supervisors of Wright State summer student employees may plan to utilize the existing Maximum Work Hour policies and all current student employee policies as a basis for scheduling summer work hours. It is likely that the current policies will remain in effect through June 21, 2013. It is also likely that there may be announcement of student employee policy changes before June 21, 2013 which may be implemented and effective as early as June 22, 2013. Thank you for your patience and understanding as the university navigates these complex considerations. We will post new information as soon as it becomes available.

We hoped to have a decision by now regarding the Maximum Hours Policy for Wright State University student employees. However at this time, the University Administration is still awaiting important interpretation information regarding the federal Health Care Act legislation in order to make decisions that will impact the maximum work hours for WSU student employees.
If we still do not have a clear answer by April 27, 2013 (official start of summer payroll) you can plan to schedule your student(s) to work according to the current Maximum Work Hour Policy which can be viewed on our website (click on Summer Semester): http://www.wright.edu/career-services/student-employment/student-employm...
Career Services will communicate with you as soon as Wright State University has new Maximum Work Hour Policy information and an implementation date. If you have any questions regarding maximum work hour changes, please contact Kim Gilliam or Cheryl Stuart in Career Services at x2556.
As this reminder about re-hire was delayed we highly recommend that you have your student(s) come to Career Services to get processed on their next working shift during our student employment processing hours.Processing Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
April 2, 2013
The implementation of the federal government’s Affordable Healthcare Act will require changes to Student Employment policies as early s Summer Semester 2013. At this time, the maximum hours our students are able to work may be impacted as early as April 27, 2013. Many university departments, including Human Resources are working diligently to determine the impact, and we will communicate with you as soon as more information becomes available.
