Three CIOhio Symposium Scholarships are awarded yearly through the CIOhio Program Committee, based on academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and leadership potential. Grant’s achievement was recognized at the CIOhio Symposium, the premier event for CIOs and other business leaders across Ohio.
“When I first found out about the CIOhio Symposium Scholarship, I felt that I stood a chance to win it due to my involvement with several organizations on campus. As I began to gather the necessary recommendation letters, I discovered just how much of an impact I made on other individuals through the work I did as President of the MIS Club. It was very humbling to hear other individuals praise the work that I had done,” said Orians.
“As a recipient of the 2008 CIOhio Symposium Scholarship, I experienced a unique opportunity to attend the 2008 CIOhio Symposium in Columbus, Ohio. This was a CIO (Chief Information Officer) invitation-only event and I was one of a select few students to be invited. I met and talked with several CIO’s from businesses throughout Ohio. It was a very entertaining experience and I learned a lot as well. I gained knowledge about the current Information Technology (IT) problems these CIO’s are dealing with and the trends that will affect the IT industry in the future. Overall, it was definitely an eye-opening experience that would have never happened had I not taken a few minutes of my time to fill out an application,” said Orians.
