MBA 755 Designing and Implementing Competitive Strategies

Project Overview

Project Description:

During the Spring 2005 quarter, MBA 755 (capstone) students examined emerging business models in Dayton‘s strategic industry cluster. Industries with a strong presence in Dayton include advanced materials/manufacturing, aerospace, and data management/mining.

An emerging business model is a new framework for organizing and exploiting resources to deliver superior value to customers. The student reports identify business models that have either been launched very recently or may be launched in the near future. They address innovations in industries that are particularly important to the Dayton area.

Company Value

“The Wright State MBA capstone project allows your organization to receive a fresh insight into your strategy.  The outsider's view gives you an educated insight into your plan that you may not have previously considered.”

Dave Gasper, CEO, Initial Point, L.L.C.

Student Value

“It’s a remarkable feeling when you catch yourself pulling concepts from your past coursework in generating a comprehensive and executable business model. It’s at that point you realize that not only have you learned a great deal in terms of theory, but through the right mix of course study and real-world exercise, you have become empowered to analyze, refine, and implement those theoretical concepts into competitively-postured business decisions.”
