Description of the Company:

LexisNexis Group is the global legal publishing arm of Reed Elsevier, the Anglo-Dutch world-leading publisher and information provider. Based in Dayton, the LexisNexis Group provides information to legal, corporate, government and academic markets, and publishes legal, tax and regulatory information, via online, hardcopy print and CD-ROM formats. The Group is divided into four main operating units: North American Legal markets, U.S. Corporate and Federal Markets, Martindale-Hubbell and the International Division.

Project Description:

During the Winter 2005 quarter, MBA 755 (capstone) students examined emerging product markets for LexisNexis’ U.S. Corporate and Federal Markets unit. LexisNexis offers a wide spectrum of products and services designed for the unique needs of Corporate Counsel – including customized web sites, authoritative editorial content, groundbreaking technologies, and access to over three billion documents. Various new products for corporate counsel were studied. Teams analyzed the market sizes and trends, competitive pressures, LexisNexis' business model and capabilities, and alternative strategies LexisNexis could pursue in the product markets. The teams concluded their analyses with recommendations to LexisNexis.
