“I believe the manual will help our company develop more structure within our human Resources area. I am especially looking forward to working with the section on wages structure (new to us), which I believe will help our employees better understand not only where they stand within the company but also what they have to do to improve their pay. Thanks to the team for all their hard work!” – Tim DeHart |

“I learned more from MGT 425 and MGT 495 class than I have any other class in my undergraduate curriculum. Instead of being tested over material in the form of an exam, we were tested by putting a manual together for a Dayton company. Not only did I want to get a good grade in these two classes, but I also felt pressure to put together a useful manual to help a local company.” –Kim Collins
“This project really gives you a hands on experience. It requires a lot of work, but it is almost like an actual internship. I have learned a lot about Human Resources and the work that it entails. It gives you a hands on experience with creating job descriptions and evaluations. I have also learned a lot about the compensation and benefits as well as staffing. In order to succeed in this course, you need to put a lot of hard work into it; by the time you finish, you will be so proud or what you have accomplished.” -Kathleen Shay |

“This was a wonderful experience and I learned so much more than I thought I would. I enjoyed working with a real business. This made the work that we did really “matter” beyond a grade. Our professor was helpful so that our completed manual was just as unique as our client. We spent a lot of lond hours on this project, but I feel excited and ready for the job market.” Marlene M. Adams
“I learned a lot about the HR process in working on the project. I didn’t realize everything that is involved in HR until I worked on this project. Working with Oheil was a great learning experience because they were very willing to give us any information we asked for and their input was fantastic. I found our client was very involved with us every step of the way and was very appreciative of all the work we did for his company.” Jennifer Deck
“During 425 and 495 I learned how to carry out many of the essential tasks of Human Resource manager. Both 425 and 495 provide an opportunity to learn not only how to complete tasks but how to determine the needs of a company and customize policies and procedures to fit their mission and vision” Melissa Mills |

Company Name: Lewis & Michael Moving and Storage, An Agent of Atlas Van Lines |
Website: www.atlaslm.com |
Project Overview |
The Company President expressed concern over an aging sales force, and what needs to be done to recruit new talent. WE complied a Staffing Plan complete with information on recruiting (both internally and externally), selecting, orientating, and training new employees.
At the Company’s request, our team designed a Performance Appraisal Tool for exempt and non-exempt employees, as well as a 360 degree Feedback Appraisal Tool for Company Executives.
While the Company had a general rules and regulations in place, there was no systematic process for disciplinary action. Our consulting group designed a Progressive Discipline Program that addresses both employee behavior and employee attendance.
Further, we took the Company’s current policies and procedures and made them stronger and more defensible. WE also wrote new policies and procedures that we felt would benefit operations and employee relations
We also performed a Human Resources S.W.O.T. Analysis to identify environmental factors that can exploited, addressed and changed. This analysis also includes specific instructions regarding how to conduct a Human Resources Needs Assessment.
In addition to other tasks not listed, we also were able to provide some general and some very specific recommendations to the Company that we feel will strengthen the Company’s Human Resources function. Moreover, many of the recommendations provide for very real and tangible employee development that will allow the Company to continue to reach its goals and live up to its Mission Statement.
