Pola Gupta, Professor of Marketing, Recognized Among
Nation's Most Published Researchers in Advertising
A recent article in the Journal of Advertising, has
identified Dr. Pola Gupta, Professor of Marketing, as one of
the top twenty advertising scholars in the nation. Dr.
Gupta ranked 18th among the most published scholars in the top
three U.S. advertising research journals, Journal of
Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research and Journal of
Current Issues and Research in Advertising during the last
decade. The ranking was published in "A Ten-Year
Retrospective of Advertising Research Productivity, 1997-2006"
by Ford and Merchant in the Journal of Advertising vol. 37,
no. 3 (Fall 2008) pp. 69-94. The Journal of
Advertising is the official journal of the American
Academy of Advertising.

Dr. Gupta has published articles in the Journal of
Advertising, International Marketing Review, Journal of Current
Issues and Research in Advertising, Journal of Economic
Psychology, Journal of Consumer Policy, Journal of Hospital
Marketing, Health Marketing Quarterly, Advances in Consumer
Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business
Ethics, Journal of Education for Business, and Journal of
Business and Industrial Marketing. He has presented papers at
conferences of the American Marketing Association, Association
for Consumer Research and INFORMS.
Dr. Gupta received numerous awards for his accomplishments
in teaching and research. He received the Outstanding Marketing
Professor of the Year Awards (2007 & 2008) and the 2007
Outstanding Research Award from the Raj Soin College of
Business, Wright State University. He also received the Faculty
Innovations in Teaching Award from the University of Northern
Iowa. The ITVX company, a leading developer of the product
placement metrics, recognized Dr. Gupta as one of the top
researcher in the field of product placements in movies. ITVX
incorporated several research findings from Dr. Gupta's
pioneering research work in product placements in movies in
their metrics for pricing product placements in movies.
Prior to joining Wright State University, Dr. Gupta taught
at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa; Rutgers
University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, and the State University
of New York at Buffalo, New York. Dr. Gupta has also taught
courses at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria, Moscow
Linguistics University, Moscow, Russia and Indian Institute of
Management, Bangalore, India. As a doctoral candidate, Dr.
Gupta was a Fellow at the national AMA Doctoral Consortium. He
is a professional member of the American Marketing Association
and Alpha Mu Alpha Honor Society. Before entering academics,
Dr. Gupta worked as an Electrical Engineer in a large steel
plant where he held positions as Deputy Manager, Assistant
Manager and Junior Engineer.
