Mgt 425 - Human Resources Consulting Skills”
Mgt 495 - Human Resources Strategy Practicum”
The Raj Soin College of
Business collaborates with the business community through a variety
of programs including faculty-guided student projects in conjunction
with the Small Business Development Center.
Annually from September to March, senior HR students in Dr. Michael Z. Sincoff’'s Mgt 425 and Mgt 495 classes consult with area small businesses to accomplish an extensive analysis and evaluation of human resources applications, and make appropriate client-based recommendations. Students prepare and distribute a job analysis survey, write job descriptions, create a point-factor job evaluation methodology, price jobs in the marketplace for external competitiveness, develop a graded salary structure for internal equity, prepare job advertisements, develop internal and external recruitment mechanisms, create a performance appraisal system, and identify orientation training needs for new employees. They also develop client-specific compensation and staffing policies and procedures, including three-year cost projections and turnover costs; an overall company HR strategy; and, specific HR policies needed by the client.
In the past six years, nearly 45 local companies have taken advantage of these faculty-guided student consulting services. Click below to view recent class projects.
