Tradition of Accounting Excellence Continues

L-R: Julianne Coghlan and Mindi Wallace

Julianne Coghlan, a senior accounting major, won top honors in the 2004 Ohio Undergraduate Accounting Manuscript Competition. Her entry pertained to new business regulations to prevent executive improprieties.

This is the second consecutive year that the award went to a Wright State student from an auditing class taught by Susan Lightle, professor of accountancy. The award included a cash prize that was sponsored by Deloitte, an international accounting firm, and the Ohio Region of the American Accounting Association.
Accounting honor student Mindi Wallace was named first in a state competition that earned her the top prize of a $3,000 scholarship from the Ohio Society of CPAs. Besides her academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the award was based on individual and group interviews relating to her research on an assigned topic that encompassed accounting ethics. Wallace—one of five state finalists—advanced to the top-tier of competition after she was named the winner of a $1,000 scholarship by the Dayton Chapter of the OSCPA.
