Training

Training

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission requires that all personnel or students that work with or around radiation or radioactive materials receive radiation safety training.  (NRC 10 CFR 20) 

The AU shall ensure that subordinate users have the proper training to safely perform each assigned task.

All Radiation Safety Training is available on Pilot in the Environmental Health and Safety Training Course.

Courses

The Safe Use of Radioactive Materials (RAM)

The Safe Use of Radioactive Materials Training (RAM)

Audience:

  • For anyone who will be an authorized user or individual user of radiation materials (RAM).

Freqency:  

  • Initial:  Once, at initial assignment
  • Refresher:  Annual 

The Radiation Generating Equipment (RGE)

The Radiation Generating Equipment Training (RGE)

Audience:

  • For anyone who will be operating radiation generating equipment (RGE), e.g., diagnostic, veterinary, and analytical x-ray units, as well as particle accelerators that are used for research or patient care.

Frequency:

  • Initial:  Once, at initial assignment
  • Refresher:  Annual
