Training

Training

The Ohio Department of Health Bureau of Radiation Protection requires all personnel or students who work with or around radiation-generating equipment and radioactive materials receive radiation safety training (Ohio Administrative Code 3701:1-38/3701:1-66/3701:1-68).

Facility Coordinators of radiation-generating equipment and Authorized Users of radioactive materials must ensure proper training of all personnel to safety perform each assigned task. 

All Radiation Safety Training is available on Pilot in the Environmental Health and Safety Training Course.

The Safe Use of Radioactive Materials (RAM)

Audience:

  • For anyone who will be an authorized user or individual user of radiation materials (RAM).

Frequency:  

  • Initial:  Once, at initial assignment
  • Refresher:  Annual 

The Radiation Generating Equipment (RGE)

The Radiation Generating Equipment Training (RGE)

Audience:

  • For anyone who will be operating radiation generating equipment (RGE), e.g., diagnostic, veterinary, and analytical x-ray units, as well as particle accelerators that are used for research or patient care.

Frequency:

  • Initial:  Once, at initial assignment
  • Refresher:  Annual
