Vision Mentors
WHO CAN BECOME A MENTOR?
Potential mentors should possess at least these following qualities:
- Good Academic Standing (2.5 G.P.A.)
- Upper Classmen Status (So., Jr., Sr.)
- Commitment to Mentoring
- Disciplined Study Habits
- Dedication to Community Service
Benefits of Becoming a Mentor:
- Field Trips to Local Historical Sites
- Monthly Extracurricular Activities
- Leadership Retreats
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF MENTORS WHO PARTICIPATE?
- The peer mentor will assist first-year students with their academic excellence by acting as a "Big brother/sister", sharing with them all of the ins and outs about college survival, and giving them guidance when necessary.
- The peer mentor should provide other contacts for the mentees, to aid them in building a network on campus.
- Peer mentors should stay in contact with their assigned mentees twice a week.
