Cheryl Conley, Ph.D., is the Program Director of the Clinical Sciences Program at Wright State University. Dr. Conley received her Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology in 1974 from Wright State University, her Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from University of Dayton in 1980, and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Wright State University in 1984. In her post doc at University of Louisville, she was a NASA fellow and studied the effects of weightlessness on immune responses. Dr. Conley returned to Dayton in 1986 and with the resources provided by the Community Blood Center, started the Dayton Regional Tissue Bank, which is now Community Tissue Services, one of the largest tissue banks in the United States. She taught in the CLS Programs both at University of Kentucky and at the University of Dayton. For the past 16 years, she has served as the Laboratory Director and expert witness for Orchid Cellmark, one of the largest DNA testing facilities in the United States, where DNA testing was used to evaluate parentage and other relationships for immigration purposes. Dr. Conley is an assessor for the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and also served as member and chair of the Parentage Testing Accreditation Program Unit. She also served as an advisor on the Kinship Data and Analysis Panel in the aftermath of the World Trade Center disaster.
Dr. Conley is currently working with Ohio Skills Bank in order to facilitate expansion of the CLS Program at Wright State.
Dr. Conley's interests include transplantation immunology, transfusion medicine,
and human identity testing.
