Each week, samples from US lakes, reservoirs and rivers and sometimes those from other countries arrive in the Carmichael lab. Dr. Carmichael and his staff conduct a thorough investigation of the samples to determine what species of algae are present, whether they contain potentially harmful cyanobacteria, and then they recommend which cyanotoxins to analyze for. Once the analyses are complete, the staff help clients interpret the results and assist with appropriate management and mitigation decisions. The lab is dedicated to the identification, analysis and production of these toxins with the goal of helping government agencies, utilities, park services and private citizens achieve a better quality of drinking and recreational water throughout the United States and the world.
*NOTE: Effective 9/30/06 CyanoHAB Services will no longer be accepting samples for analysis.
