Wright
State University, with funding from the National Science Foundation,
is offering a summer workshop for Biology, Earth Science,
and Chemistry educators. The focus of the workshop will be
on designing and implementing biological activities for all
students, including those with physical disabilities.
Ten
educators from across the nation will be selected to participate
in the two-week workshop. Selected educators will work one-on-one
with physically disabled, 7-12th grade, students, learning
innovative techniques to develop a range of scientific investigations.
Our educators will be exposed to a wealth of resources available
for adapting science labs. The C.L.A.S.S. summer workshop
should provide educators across the country with the resources,
labs, and the skills needed to include students with physical
disabilities in their science classes and laboratories.
The
workshop provides travel funds to and from our campus, room
and board in campus housing, a stipend of approximately $500.00
and the option of graduate credit. Wright State University
is one of the leading schools in the United States with facilities
for individuals with physical disabilities. The Department
of Biological Sciences is currently offering science laboratories
that are accessible to students with physical disabilities.
