"I’d just like to thank those fortunate enough to contribute to such an important fund. The arts change the world."

Tell us more about you and your life, your profession, and your successes.

Since graduating, I’ve moved to New York City where I spent a summer before starting work on Carnival Cruise Lines, where I’ve been for three years now. I’ve worked on four ships and done 10 shows. I’ve worked with various Broadway and West End directors while with the company and traveled the world—Alaska, Tahiti, Fiji, Bora Bora, Australia, and the Caribbean to name a few. I’ve also been doing so alongside my husband, who I married back in June of 2017. Life is wonderful and I love being present in each day, being blessed to meet so many wonderful people, and see so many places, all while doing what I love to do. I’ve also been able to pay off my student loans, pay for my own dream wedding, and buy a new home and new car—goals I never imagined I’d accomplish within three years of graduating. I’ve also had ample time to continue my self growth, artistic progress, and future dreams.

What is your favorite Wright State memory?

My favorite memory would have to be the entire experience of The Wild Party, my junior year, when I played Queenie. It was such a year of self growth, development, honing my craft, and reaching a place of vulnerability and openness that ultimately led me to my strength and confidence as an artist. It was such an incredible experience, working alongside some of my best friends, on material I loved so much.

What did receiving the ARTSGALA scholarship mean to you?

Receiving the ARTSGALA scholarship meant everything to me. I had received a small amount of an academic scholarship as well. My entire life I was the academic, so much so that it made me believe I was more valued there than in the arts where my true passion was. I almost didn’t major in the arts.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I’d just like to thank those fortunate enough to contribute to such an important fund. The arts change the world. I learned just as much about singing, dancing, and acting as I learned about mental well being, kindness to others, and the importance of physical self-care. Majoring in the arts not only taught practical lessons, but life lessons that were the foundation for me becoming the person I am today and will continue to grow into.
