Show of HeART: The Foodbank Installation

Create a unique work of art while helping to feed our community!

The public is invited to stop by the Robert & Elaine Stein Galleries from Wednesday, November 30 through Friday, December 2 and drop off any number of canned, non-perishable food items that will become part of an interactive installation in the Galleries. Visitors are encouraged to artfully stack the cans along the gallery walls or create inspired arrangements of their own.

After December 2, all donations will be delivered to The Foodbank.

“The canned food installation will change as more cans are added during the three-day event,” says Tess Cortés, Gallery Coordinator for the Robert & Elaine Stein Galleries. “This is our second year holding the event. Last year we collected over 600 pounds of food items. It would be great if we doubled that amount for this year.”

Pedestals will also be out for those who want to try their hand at creating a freestanding sculpture with the cans they bring.

The Foodbank provides food to 77 member agencies that operate nearly 100 feeding programs.

Gallery hours during the event are: Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All visitor parking areas on campus are free with a parking pass, which can be obtained at the visitor’s booth in Lot 2. A dedicated parking space for gallery visitors is available in lot 15. The loading dock will also be available for those who want to drop off their donations directly into the Gallery.

All Gallery events are free and open to the public.
