Building Tradition:
My participation in the Raider Rowdies has been my best college experience so far…I’ve loved everything about it from the get go. I loved going to games in high school, and the Rowdies are all about organizing students that go to the games. I started going to soccer games with the Rowdies, and I just really found what I was looking for. I got active, I got loud, and above all, I got under the other team’s skin. At the end of the year, I decided to run for an office in the organization and somehow landed the president’s job. Getting involved with the Rowdies helped me make my connection to WSU, and now as president I can help other students make that connection as well…and do what I LOVE to do.
Making a Difference:
Project Linus is a non-profit student organization that makes and donates handmade blankets to children in need. They have around 35 active members in the organization and over 400 volunteers that organize every year to make the blankets. After this year’s count, they will have donated over 2,200 blankets to children in need. As a volunteer, I put my hands to work this year and made six blankets for children that needed them. It made me feel good about myself and proud that I was helping people that were not as fortunate as me. It’s a great organization that is doing great things for the community.
