2009-2010 Scholarship Application will be made available in Winter 2009.

2008-2009 Scholarship Application Form and Recommendation Instructions Form

DEADLINE DATE- MARCH 1, 2008

General Information

Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis within colleges to academically talented students who complete this application. Students may apply for more than one scholarship through this application if they meet the criteria and submit all required paperwork. Unless stated to the contrary in the scholarship descriptions, recipients must be registered as full-time students in order to use the scholarship money to pay their fees. The majority of these scholarships are merit based. If documented financial need is listed as a requirement, applicants should file the 2008-2009 FAFSA by the February 15, 2008 priority deadline date.

How to Apply (Please Read Carefully)

1. Scholarships are awarded on an “as funds are available basis.”

2. Due to limited scholarship funds, most committees do not give serious consideration to students who have earned fewer than 45 credit hours at Wright State by the end of fall quarter 2007.

3. To qualify as a Continuing Undergraduate Student you must have earned hours and a "competitive" cumulative GPA, both earned at Wright State University.

4. Be sure your application is received or postmarked on or before March 1, 2008.

5. Be sure to check the special scholarship(s) for which you are eligible to compete for, found in the upper right-hand corner of the scholarship application. If a scholarship is not listed as “special,” it means that all eligible applicants are considered.

6. A typed essay stating your interest, future goals, and background experiences is required of all applicants. This essay must be two pages, double-spaced, using a 12 point font, and one inch margins.

7. One confidential recommendation letter is required. Request this letter from an instructor or professor who has knowledge of your academic work and ability. Refer to the Recommendation Instructions Form. Applicants can check WINGS Express to see if the recommendation letter has been received in the Office of Financial Aid.

8. A clearly typed (one page) list of extracurricular activities, community service, offices held, and awards or honors received is required of all applicants. Only include information relevant during your post secondary studies. This list will be reviewed carefully by the scholarship committee(s). Be sure to include details of involvement and corresponding dates.

9. College Scholarship award decisions are made by June 1.
