Loans / Grants / Work Study
Loans, grants and work study are considered state or federal aid. To be considered for these types of aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA form is available online or you may be pick up a paper copy from your guidance counselor, a public library, or college/university financial aid office. Filing the FAFSA online is the quickest and most convenient method.

In order to complete the FAFSA, you need student and parent 1040s and W-2s. Many of the questions on the FAFSA will come directly from these forms, however you should not send copies of 1040s or W-2s to the federal processor. You will be required to list the colleges and universities that you want to receive your FAFSA results; The title IV code for Wright State University is 003078. The priority deadline for the FAFSA at Wright State is February 15.

Loans are a type of financial aid that must be repaid with interest. Student loans (Stafford, Perkins) are taken out in the student’s name. Parent loans (PLUS) are taken out in the parent’s name. Private loans, also called Alternative Loans, are usually taken out in the student’s name but should have a credit-worthy co-signer. Grants are a form of financial aid that is based on need. (Need is determined by filing the FAFSA) Grants do not need to be paid back. The Office of Financial Aid has information on what grants are available.

Work Study is a program that enables students to work part time to earn money for school related expenses. The amount of Work Study money is based on need. (Need is determined by filing the FAFSA) Contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions about the Work Study Program.
