WSURA Contributions to the University and Beyond

University and community service is an essential part of WSURA's mission and the Association works to encourage volunteerism throughout the University and community. The following are volunteer opportunities for WSURA members.

Admissions	Serve as greeters/hosts at Admissions open houses and career days; make phone calls to prospective and admitted students.
Athletics	Assist with tutoring and mentoring.
Occasional Lecture Series	WSURA invites people with specialized knowledge to make presentations on topics of current interest and importance.
The Extension	This quarterly publication contains information of interest to our membership such as coming events and news of members. Marlene Bireley is the Editor of "The Extension".
Parking	Serve as visitor booth attendant; be a shuttle van driver; help with E.J. Nutter Center event parking control; assist with commencement and basketball parking.
Scholarship Fund	WSURA has established an endowed scholarship fund to provide an annual merit scholarship to a continuing WSU student. This effort is being coordinated by Barbara Eakins-Reed.
Student Affairs & Enrollment Services	Need volunteers for office assistance at peak times and marketing assistance for Artist Series and Career Fair; help with orientations and opening days and involvement with exchange groups.
Theatre	Volunteer as a Stage Wright Friend (opportunities include audience development, box office committee, hospitality committee, membership, special events committee, development committee and youth audience committee).
Tutoring Reading for Elementary School Students	The "Ohio Reads" program has lots of flexibility. After a short training period, people work in teams of two, with only one team member having to be present. You may voluntee in one of your local schools in one near the campus. You may commit for a quarter at a time. A contact for program details is Micki Stamps (775-4952).
University Advancement	Help expand alumni contacts; participate in the speakers bureau and in activities related to admissions and retention, community relations, the campus scholarship campaigns and seminars.
WSURA	Serve as an officer, board member, or serve on a standing committee; help plan activities; e-mail or phone members about upcoming activities.
