Recycling
Wright State currently employs one recycling coordinator, James Webb, who works Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Responsibilities include baling cardboard, paper shredding, delivery and pick up of recycling containers servicing the main campus and off-site locations, in addition to transporting cardboard bales to our recycling facility. Each calendar year, five people are trained (minimum 40 hours training) as support persons for the recycling coordinator position in the event of absenteeism or when additional help is warranted.
In July 2009 Wright State partnered with Rumpke to enhance our recycling program from source separation to a comingled collection. Signage was changed on existing containers to read "recycle" with additional single-stream recycling boxes placed in numerous locations throughout campus. Permanent educational signage was placed above recycling centers in vending areas. In October 2009 enhanced recycling efforts showed significant improvements wherein 82,000 lbs of recycling was collected in a 4 week period compared to previous collection of 82,000 within a 10 week period. Visit our Recyclemania web page for continued data improvement.
Help Wright State keep America beautiful by diverting waste into recycling. Recycle all paper, plastic, aluminum, and cardboard; do NOT contaminate recycling with food.
