Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach - Bridging the gap between high school and college!

The Wright State University (WSU) Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach Office works to implement the tenets of the Ohio CORE legislation (S. B. 311) through close partnerships with the WSU Office of the Provost, WSU Undergraduate Colleges and Departments, WSU Lake Campus Community Outreach Office, PK-12 school districts throughout Ohio, and appropriate others.  The goal of the Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach Office is to enhance partnerships between WSU and PK-12 school districts to increase academic preparation of entering college students through programs such as:

  • Dual Enrollment Program:   Early college credit program offering college courses on the high school campus.

The Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach Office coordinates dual enrollment programs (DEP) with school districts throughout Ohio.  WSU Dayton and Lake Campus partner with over forty high schools offering DEP Chinese, French, Spanish, Introductory Mathematics for Engineering Applications, English Freshman Composition, English Great Books, online Economics, and other WSU courses that meet the Ohio Transfer Module and Transfer Assurance Guidelines.

  • College Readiness and High School Outreach:  Academic enhancement program parternering with school districts to share information about Ohio's College Readiness expectations.

The Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach Office, in collaboration with WSU's University College and the Office of Service Learning, facilitates the College Readiness and High School Outreach Program.  The program partners with school districts to share information about the Ohio College Readiness expectations and the new Ohio CORE curriculum.  The program enhances opportunities for students, parents, and schools to identify student success benchmarks and establish appropriate academic interventions for students while still attending high school.

Wright State University also offers academic programming for PK-12 students via the Office of Pre-College Programs, as well as through additional Wright State PK-12 Programs offered by a variety of WSU departments.
