MAINTAINING AND ENHANCING HIGH QUALITY FACILITIES
We will remain committed to master planning to enhance our physical and environmental resources on the two campuses and the complexes throughout Dayton and the Miami Valley. Wright State will remain a national leader in its physical accessibility to all. New configurations of interactive living and learning communities will emerge. Facilities, programs and services will be provided to support the diverse needs of members of these communities.

CLASSROOMS AND LABORATORIES
Technology and alternative learning modes and their accompanying challenges will require the University to maximize its resources. While many students and faculty will be engaged in interactive learning communities beyond the physical confines of our campuses, appropriate working and learning facilities will remain essential to the educational experience. We will continue to expand into the community to share facilities and resources. We will adapt facilities to accommodate varied learning approaches and emerging laboratory requirements as learning communities and research opportunities develop. Further, we will transform classrooms and laboratories into environments that will facilitate learning and enhance interaction among members of the learning community. A broadened concept of the University "campus" will emerge, so that Wright State University is present anywhere teaching, research, and service occur.

RAMIFICATIONS FOR PHYSICAL PLANT
Since many more courses in 2020 will be electronically based, we will need fewer large lecture halls. The library will have more electronically stored information and distribution capability. All learning rooms will be fully connected to campus networks and will provide a full range of multimedia instructional options. Students will have full connectivity from a variety of sources including residence halls, classrooms, offices, and other learning spaces. We will protect and enhance Wright State University's artistic heritage, particularly galleries and artistic performance venues.

NATURAL "FACILITIES"
One of our irreplaceable teaching and research "facilities" consists of the natural environment of both the Dayton and Lake campuses. The water resources, prairies, and old growth forest in the Miami Valley and on campus will be conserved and used for study and research projects.

OFF-CAMPUS LOCATIONS
Our presence throughout the Miami Valley, including the Dayton urban district, and within the communities surrounding the Lake campus, will remain vital in linking the University with local businesses, industries, and the public. Wright State University will provide programs and services where people work and live.

RESIDENTIAL STUDENT HOUSING
We will develop more flexible housing configurations which include permanent, weekend, executive, and part-time residences to respond to WSU's changing student needs and to the diverse needs of learning communities.

When the residential student population increases, additional costs may be incurred for housing, security, recreation, and other services. In correlation with the projected enrollment in the year 2020 and since current occupancy is above 95 percent, it is expected that there will be a need for continued growth in the range of 20 percent. Housing opportunities for adults and families, retirees, graduate students, and small groups along with a variety of living/learning centers will exist. We will seek agreements with public and private developers to offset the capital outlays necessitated by this expansion of on- and off-campus residence opportunities.
