Are they "real" police officers?Police officers of the Wright State University Police Department are authorized enforcement officers pursuant to Ohio Revised Code, as State University law Section 3345.04. All of the police officers have completed the mandated training required of all Peace officers in the State of Ohio and they are certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. All of the police officers have full police powers, including powers of arrest. Why can't I find a place to park?The Wright State University Department of Parking and Transportation Services will assist you with your parking related issues on campus. For more information regarding parking and transportation or if you have questions regarding parking and transportation on campus, please visit the Parking & Transportation Web site, send an e-mail to parking@wright.edu, or call their office at (937) 775-5690. Are those real tickets or just university tickets?Wright State University police officers may issue a WSU Campus Citation (for parking and traffic violations), a State of Ohio traffic citation (also for parking and traffic violations), or a criminal citation (for misdemeanor criminal offenses). When the officer issues a ticket, the police officer will advise you of the type of citation issued. It should be remembered that if you are cited into the Fairborn Municipal Court, you must appear in court. Failure to appear in court will result in a warrant being issued for your arrest. What can I do if I lock my keys in my car?The Wright State University Police Department provides lock out assistance for vehicles that are 1990 or older and do not have power locks. When a WSU police officer assists you by providing lock out assistance, you will be asked to complete a waiver of liability. If your car has power locks or newer than 1990 and the engine is running, we will attempt to assist you. If your vehicle does not meet our lock out criteria, you will need to contact someone to assist you. Very Important: If you have a vehicle with side impact airbags, notify the responding officer immediately! What can I do if my car battery is dead?The Wright State University Police Department does provide battery-jump assistance when the Parking and Transportation Department is not on duty. During normal business hours (8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., please contact Parking and Transportation at (937) 775-5690. After normal business hours, please contact the WSU Police Department Communications Center at (937) 775-2111 for assistance. |
