K-9 Unit

The Wright State University Police Departmenthas also has an officer of the four-legged variety. Tito is a yellow Labrador retriever and will serve as the university's first narcotics dog.

Tito, who is trained to detect illegal substances, is considered an officer of the police department. Tito and his handler, Sergeant Richard Coy, have been certified by the Ohio Peace Officer's Traning Commission after extensive training in narcotics detection.

Tito will patrol all areas of campus and all buildings to create and environment that discourages the use, possession or sale of illegal drugs. He will also work at sporting events and any other campus activites as needed.
