The print shoDick Menke, Press Operatorp produces a large portion of the printing used to support the Wright State University mission. The printing area is composed of two sections: the prep or prepress area and the pressroom.

A staff member from our prepress area works with the art generated by our clients, designers, or the composition area to prepare negatives to make the metal plates for the presses.

The pressroom has the capability of running two-, three-, and four-color jobs. Jobs such as envelopes, letterheads, and carbonless forms are produced on the small presses; while the larger presses are used to produce most of the multicolored brochures and posters. Any orders that require large quantities are printed several up on the sheet to save time and money.

Ralph Farley and Gary FolandAfter completion of the printing, the order is taken to the bindery area. The finishing work, such as trimming, folding, collating, punching, and stapling, is then completed. Finally, the product is wrapped or boxed for the delivery of the order.

Jobs requiring hand collation take extra time; therefore, try to include this in the time frame of your job.

A paper shredding machine for disposing of confidential materials is available for departmental use, free of charge.
