Position Summary:   To conduct grant funded research in clinical prevention. To be the course director for a new first year medical student course and to teach within that course and in other courses within the Master of Public Health Program.

Education and Experience:    M.D. or D.O., Ph.D., or DrPH; education in field involving prevention and/or population-based medicine; education in clinical specialty including board certification if M.D. or D.O. with current Ohio medical license or eligibility to obtain an Ohio medical license to practice medicine; ability to conduct research in preventive medicine, to teach population based medicine, and to manage a multi-disciplinary teaching faculty,  ability to teach and supervise MPH students; use of quantitative measurement approaches to preventive medicine and population health; ability to work in a collaborative, multi-organizational academic setting, and to work independently; 3 years minimum experience working in public or private sector; experience or interest in funded research in clinical prevention with focus of translating research into practice either in the reduction of risk factors in a disease process or the prevention of disease; experience or interest in the practice of prevention in the clinical setting if M.D. or D.O.; experience or interest in the teaching of aspects of population based medicine; understanding of quantitative measurement approaches to preventive medicine and population health; must be interested and have the potential to receive extramural funding for continued research effort in clinical prevention; must be interested in teaching and leading faculty in teaching the principles of prevention to medical and MPH students; must be interested in translation of research into practice regarding clinical risk factors for preventing disease; to be considered as associate professor must also have demonstrated scholarly activity (publications, presentations, nationally recognized expertise, or awarding of grants).

Preferred: MPH, MSPH; additional education in population-based health; interest in ongoing clinical patient care practice if M.D. or D.O.

Length of Appointment: One year contract with continuation dependent upon funding. Special Contract terms and conditions of employment apply. 


Position Description:  

Conduct grant funded research in clinical prevention with focus of translating research into practice either in the reduction of risk factors in a disease process or the prevention of disease (preferably cardiovascular or another area such as asthma, cancer, infectious disease). Participate in the research and activities of the Center for Global Health Systems, Management and Policy.

Function as the Course Director for a new first year medical student course (Population Health, Quantitative Analysis, and Clinical Prevention) with 40 contact hours and a multidisciplinary faculty.

Participate in the educational and service activities of the Center for Global health Systems, Management and Policy, including teaching and supervising in the Master of Public Health Program.
