Benjamin & Marian Schuster Hall Master Plan

A team of specialized consultants has been engaged to develop a master plan for the renovation of the newly renamed Benjamin & Marian Schuster Hall – the College of Liberal Arts' primary musical performance space – formerly known as the Concert Hall. The initial phase of this planning effort was begun by conducting acoustical measurements to “characterize” the existing space. This data is being used to develop an acoustical computer model which in turn can be used to design acoustical enhancements to the space.

The team which includes experts in performance space planning, lighting, air-conditioning-ventilating in addition to acoustics surveyed music faculty and student performers to personalize their understanding of needed improvements. The team then conducted a two day long “charrette” to explore design options. An artist's conceptual renderings we presented to Dr. Schuster in early June.

Final recommendations and project cost estimates will be presented in a report to be published later this summer.
