Development Standards
The standards are intended to serve as guides not only for the implementation of the projects contained in the campus master plan, but for all existing and future campus spaces, including those not specifically slated for inclusion in a development project. They are presented for the benefit of those who will design and maintain the spaces, as well as for those who will review their work.
While each point presented in the standards is important, it is their aggregate message that will, in large part, determine the fate of the campus at Wright State University. In the final analysis, it is most important that there be standards that are applied consistently from project to project, campus space to campus space. Without such standards, it will be all too easy to revert to the development practices which tended to fragment the campus in the past. As each new project is designed and implemented, the focus needs to remain squarely on the relationship of that piece to the whole in order that the main goal of this master planning effort—the desire to create a distinctive, efficient, beautiful campus—be realized.
