In 2004, the Board of Trustees approved spending on design and construction of several major projects. The facilities under construction or renovation were approved because they best support the needs identified in the University Strategic Plan.

The goal for superior educational facilities is foremost. In many of the projects, one will see a commitment to outstanding classrooms, computer labs, and science and medical laboratories.

The second focus is on development of interdisciplinary research labs, allowing accommodation of new partnerships and funded research.

The third goal is creation of excellent student facilities to improve quality of life for both residential and commuter students.
