Nursing Institute Plan

Plannning Phase (2002-2003)

Phase One (2004-2005)

  • Hire Executive Director and Administrative Assistant
  • Establish an office at Wright State University
  • Expand partner input into plans for specific centers in Phases One and Two
  • Develop pre-college partnerships
  • Establish advisory boards for each of the three centers
  • Hire directors, business manager, administrative assistants, coordinators, counselor, and secretary as funding and activities dictate
  • Develop and initiate a six-year plan for all three centers
  • Nursing Education Center -- expand work with primary and secondary schools and identify career ladder options
  • Professional Practice Center -- develop and initiate pilot projects to improve practice environment
  • Research and Evaluation Center -- plan and initiate surveys for students, nurses, employers and public; begin evaluation
  • Secure all funding for Phase One and partial funding for Phase Two

Phase Two (2006-2007)

  • Expand staff
  • Carry out center plans for years three and four -- plan evaluation and carry out improvement
  • Nursing Education Center -- continue and expand relationships with primary and secondary schools, develop and initiate new pilot projects to improve educational programs
  • Professional Practice Center -- continue and initiate new pilot projects to improve practice environment
  • Research and Evaluation Center -- continue surveys and evaluate education and practice initiatives, present research-based recommendations for project improvement
  • Develop long-term care partnerships
  • Review plans for years five and six, revise as indicated
  • Disseminate project outcomes
  • Seek and secure funding for Phases Two and Three

Phase Three (2008-2009)

  • Implement plans for years five and six -- conduct evaluation, disseminate outcomes, and carry out improvements
  • Plan for years seven to twelve
  • Secure ongoing funding
