Nameplates for Periodic Publications

About the example. The titles of periodic publications are called nameplates. Periodic publications include newsletters, tabloids, newspapers, journals, magazines, and circulars such as seminar notices and information bulletins. Periodic publications are issued at regular intervals and contain recent news or information.

To ensure that Wright State organizations project an image of professionalism, Communications and Marketing staff will professionally design nameplates to mutually satisfy the university identity standards and the client's need for a distinct, creative nameplate design. Because the university identity standards evolve with time, all nameplates will be subject to periodic review in order to maintain the integrity of the standards.

Newsletter Nameplates

Newsletter nameplates are acceptable under the university identity guidelines, providing that the design complies with the following:

  • The university's name must appear on the nameplate.
  • The university primary corporate or word mark must appear somewhere on the front page, preferably within the nameplate.
  • The nameplate may create a visual identity for only the named publication itself, not the organization that publishes it.
  • Graphics or illustrations used to enhance the visual recognition of a particular publication may not be used as an identity mark.
  • The mailing panel must meet current postal regulations and feature the standard university format. (You may contact Printing Services for proper art and guidance.)
