Reference Marks
Type and placement of footnotes

If you use reference
marks instead of superior figures, a new series of reference marks
should begin on each page, as follows:
* asterisk or star
dagger
double dagger
§ section mark
|| parallels
# number sign
- Placement of reference marks: Place after any punctuation
mark, except the dash or a closing parenthesis if the reference is
made to material within the parenthesis.

All titles of articles,
chapters, or divisions of a publication should be listed in quotation
marks.
