When numbered or
bulleted lists are composed of dependent clauses, sentence fragments,
or phrases, capitalize each listing; do not use periods.
The committee is responsible for the following projects:
- The orientation of new students
- The production of a new catalog
- The implementation of the new departmental requirements

When items in a numbered
or bulleted list complete a sentence started in the introductory sentence,
each listing is lowercased and ends with a period.
To cope with teenagers, parents have the right to:
- install an automatic timer that delivers a mild shock after
15 minutes of phone use.
- force their teenager to listen to six hours of Perry Como
if their teenager's heavy metal music exceeds the government's
standards for safe noise levels.
- use car privileges to bribe their teenager to clean his or
her room.

listing with a period is not desired, use commas or semicolons before
the final period.

When items in a numbered
or bulleted list are complete sentences, they should be punctuated
as such.

When items are listed
within a paragraph, parentheses should enclose the numerals. The numerals
do not include periods. Each listing is lowercased and separated by
commas or semicolons.
In order to pass the course, you must complete the following tasks:
(1) give a 20-minute oral report on any topic, (2) interview a professional
in the medical field, and (3) write a 500-page paper on medical ethics.
