National Museum of the United States Air Force - Behind the Scenes Tour
National Museum of the United States Air Force Tour
Behind the Scenes Tours are regularly scheduled, free guided tours of the museum's restoration area. The museum shuttle bus transports participants to the restoration hangars, located on the historic Wright Field flight line in Area B of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, about one mile from the main museum complex.
The National Museum of the United States Air Force has held 20 seats for
ELDAAG participants but requires registration. Checking the box during
ELDAAG registration will register you for the tour providing you are one of the
first 20 registrants. Anyone not registered for the conference but wanting
to attend the tour can register by sending their name, address, email address, and phone number
to filip.2@wright.edu. A confirmation email will be sent upon registration.
Transportation to and from the museum is the responsibility of the individual. All tour participants must meet the following requirements:

Participants must be at least 12 years old

An adult must accompany those between 12 and 18

A current government-issued photo ID (i.e. driver's license) is required of all
individuals 18 and over

Foreign visitors must present an original passport

For security reasons, all bags are subject to search, and backpacks, packages
and large camera cases are not permitted on the shuttle bus

Sign in for registered participants begins at 11:45 a.m. on the day of the tour,
followed by a briefing in Carney Auditorium

Shuttle buses transport participants to the restoration area, located on the
active part of Wright-Patterson Air Force base, for the tour, and return
participants to the main museum complex at approximately 3:15 p.m.
Shuttle buses are not handicapped accessible. Individuals requiring
special assistance should contact the museum's Education Division at least
one week in advance at (937) 255-4652 to arrange transportation. For more

Packard Museum Tour
America's Packard Museum is willing to provide a tour on Friday, October 23 to a group from the ELDAAG conference. Transportation to and from the museum is the responsibility of the individual.
Admission prices are:
Adults - $6.00
Seniors - $5.00
Students - $4.00
Checking the tour box on the registration form will register you for the tour, but anyone not registered for the conference planning to tour can send
their name, address, email address, and phone number to filip.2@wright.edu. For more

Aviation Trail Tour
Wright State University will be providing a bus tour to sites on the Dayton Aviation Trail. To cover transportation costs of
the bus tour, a fee of $20/person is required. The tour is limited to 30 seats and anyone wanting
to tour not registered for the
conference can register by sending their name, address, email address, and phone
number to

Follow Wilbur and Orville’s footsteps at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field on
WPAFB to see where flight took off. This is also the site of the World’s first
airport. Following a driving tour of the prairie, visit the Wright Brothers
National Memorial and the Interpretative Center. which overlooks Huffman Dam and
WPAFB. The tour will then travel through downtown Dayton past Riverscape, view a
1905 replica sculpture next to the historic Engineers Club. If time permits
visit the Engineers Club and see one of the original Wright engines. Your tour
takes you to the west side neighborhood where Wil and Orv grew up and developed
the flying machine. Drive past the replica home, visit the Bicycle Shop and tour
the Interpretative Center. Stop for a visit to the Dayton Aviation Heritage
National Historical Park where you have the opportunity to experience the
historically refurnished Wright Brothers printing office and walk through an
original Wright brother’s bicycle shop. Your next stop will be Carillon
Historical Park where the original 1905 Flyer is displayed. After a light lunch,
visit the Wright Brothers Aviation Center which includes a Wright replica
bicycle shop, an object theater for a multimedia presentation of original Wright
artifacts, and a close up view of the 1905 Flyer. As time permits explore some
of the other attractions at Carillon Park.
