Every two years, Indiana State University offers a unique, five-week summer study of Spanish in Costa Rica. Any high school graduate with at least the equivalent of one year of college Spanish is eligible for the trip. Courses are offered at the 200 through graduate level. Participants stay with a host family and attend classes Monday-Thursday. Fridays and the weekend are reserved for excursions throughout Costa Rica, including trips to the beach, the rain forest, museums, villages, and sites of cultural interest. The cost of the program for 1997, including airfare, tuition, lodging with a host family, most meals except for lunches, excursions, and books was $2275. The cost for future years should be similar. The program is offered every two years. This program, in which I teach the 200 level courses and coordinate the excursions, is offered through Indiana State University. Credits are easily transferable to WSU. You must, however, have approval from the Department of Modern Languages, which is always very helpful with these matters. You are also encouraged to seek information about Wright State's study abroad programs by contacting the International Programs office. If you are interested in my program, please feel free to contact me anytime. |
