Each Monday (six times) you will read an assignment from Free Falling and then answer a set of questions about the reading.
Guidelines for each Reading Journal:
1) Wordprocessed
2) Double-spaced
3) 250 words minimum
Grading for each Reading Journal:
2 points = the work is of exceptional, outstanding quality, revealing that the writer has done a great deal of critical thinking and reasoning when writing the journal.
1 point = the work is of average quality, meets the length requirements, and shows that the writer has understood the reading and the concepts found in it.
0 points = the work is of below-average quality and/or does not
meet the length requirements; the writer has not showed an
understanding of the reading and its concepts when completing
the journal assignment.

Journal #1:
Read An Escape Journey (pp. 26-30). Is this a successful remembered event essay? Why or why not? Analyze the techniques used by the writer.
Journal #2:
Read Cannibalism: It Still Exists (pp. 76-79). Do you like this essay? Why or why not? Even if you dislike the essay, explain what techniques the author uses that are successful. What does the author do well? What could the author improve?
Journal #3:
Read The Disney Girl (pp. 80-84). Compare and contrast
Cannibalism and Disney. How are they similar essays?
How are they different? Why are they both considered concept essays?
Journal #4:
Read The Art of Wasting Time (pp. 85-88). Of Cannibalism, Disney, and Art, which essay do you think is the most successful as a concept essay? Explain.
Journal #5
Read Creating a Criminal (pp. 95-97). What is the writer's claim in this essay? Is the claim well-supported? What evidence does the writer use to support his claim? Reading this, are you convinced by the writer's arguments?
Journal #6:
Read Liberal Arts: A Practical View (pp. 98-102). What is the writer's claim in this essay? Is the claim well-supported? What evidence does the writer use to support his claim? Reading this, are you convinced by the writer's arguments? Do you personally feel a liberal arts education is valuable? Why or why not?
