Attendance

Since this course is interactive, your attendance is mandatory. There is no distinction between "excused" and "unexcused" absences. If you are absent, you are absent. You will be given one (1) absence without penalty. Two (2) absences equal 20% of the course clock hours and will lower your final grade one letter grade. Each additional absence will result in an additional letter grade reduction. Attendance is also related to your class and partner participation points - you can't earn full credit when you are not in attendance.

Leaving early and arriving late accumulate to equal an absence. One occurrence of either without penalty, thereafter 2 of either (alone or combined) will equal one absence towards a grade reduction.

Example - A final grade of an "A" would be lowered to a "B" with two absences, a "C" with three, a "D" with four, and an "F" with five or more.

Grading

All assignments must be turned in for a grade consideration, an "F" is earned for the course if an assignment(s) is not turned in.

Using E-Mail

Submission of assignments by e-mail is encouraged. Please keep a paper printout of your message in case your e-mail gets "zapped" or for some reason my e-mail software can't translate your message. It is also a good idea to "cc" yourself when you send me your papers, then you will get a copy sent to you as a back up. If you send your paper as an attachment, only Microsoft Word is acceptable. My computers do not have WordPerfect or other popular word processor software packages. The computer labs at the university are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Turning in Work Late/Grace Period

All assignments must be completed for a passing grade in the course. The due dates for your assignments are noted in your course weekly schedule. All of your papers are due on a class meeting day. I grade papers on the weekend, so I will allow a grace period for late papers. The grace period is 4pm Friday of the week the assignment is due. Assignments are due on their published date and the grace period should only be use to accommodate extenuating circumstances. Papers received after the grace period are too late for a passing grade. E-mailed submissions received after 4pm of grace period are considered too late for a grade (they come date and time stamped automatically). Remember - even if you are too late for a grade, you must complete the assignment for a passing grade in the course. In other words, I want your papers no later than 4pm Friday, no exceptions.

Exam/Quiz Make Up Policy and Procedure

You may make up missed exams and quizzes if you do so before the next class session. After that time, you will not be able to take the quiz or exam. You will find your make up exam or quiz in an interoffice envelope with your name on it in my office. Take the envelope, complete the quiz or exam, and return the envelope to my office door. You do not need to have an appointment. You may retrieve your envelope and return it any business day between 9am and 4:30pm.
