LEAP Curriculum

Wright State University
International Students Holding Flags

The LEAP curriculum focuses on developing all of the language skills needed to prepare students for college or employment in the U.S. Our program consists of four levels. Students can start their training at the elementary level and progress to an advanced, college ready level. Students may be able to begin the LEAP program at a higher level based on their placement evaluation results.

LEAP does not have a zero-beginner level. The lowest LEAP level is for students who have a basic knowledge of English. If you can answer "YES" to these questions, then LEAP Level 1 is for you! Click here for questions

Elementary level: Fundamental English for basic communication and preparation for academic reading, writing, and grammar.
Low Intermediate: Introduction to academic reading and writing with grammar support, as well as an emphasis on speaking and listening skills.
High Intermediate: Continued work with academic reading and writing , grammar and speaking and listening.
Advanced Bridge Level: Advanced preparation in reading, writing, speaking and listening for university or business purposes. Students at this level are entitled to take university classes for college credit. Successful completion  of the Bridge level stands in place of a TOEFL score for admission to Wright State University (*)
Advantages of our curriculum: Small classes, qualified teachers, regular meetings with writing tutors, conversation partners, field trips and much more.
