Kids on Campus Fall 2008 - General Information

The spring enrichment courses at Wright State University are designed to stimulate your child’s creativity and enthusiasm for learning. Pre-College Programs is pleased to offer spring enrichment for students in grades K-5. Students who desire challenge; are interested in learning and personal growth; and have the motivation to succeed are encouraged to take advantage of these hands-on, exploratory courses. Educators and professionals from the Miami Valley provide a stimulating and challenging learning environment that encourages creativity and critical thinking. All courses are held on the main campus of Wright State University.

boy making a bridge Each course has a limited enrollment of 15 students. Many courses fill quickly; early registration is encouraged to secure your first choice sessions. It is highly recommended that you indicate an alternate course in the event that your first choice is full or cancelled. Your student will automatically be placed into the alternative course providing it is available. Please remember that children need to wear appropriate clothing for hands-on activities.

PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAMS IS ON THE MOVE: Our academic year office is located in the University Park Office Complex, 3821 Colonel Glenn Hwy. (across from Meijer). All mail should be addressed to Pre-College Programs, Wright State University, 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy., Dayton, OH 45435-000.  The Kids on Campus Program will be held on the main campus of Wright State University.

ACCREDITATION: The Office of Pre-College Programs is proud to be accredited by the American Camping Association. This nationally-recognized accreditation focuses on program quality and participant health and safety issues and requires ongoing review of all program operations. Pre-College Programs has voluntarily submitted to this independent appraisal and has earned this mark of distinction.

SNACK: Students attending Session I and Session II courses should bring a mid-morning snack and drink each Saturday.

HOW TO APPLY: Complete a separate application for each student. The application form may be photocopied if necessary. Applications must be received by the registration deadline to be considered for enrollment.   Absolutely no registrations will be accepted after the deadline.

CONFIRMATION OF ACCEPTANCE: Confirmation of your child's registration will be sent to you by mail.  The confirmation packets will include classroom number, class times, a campus map, parking information, arrival and departure times, and an emergency treatment form. 

PERMISSION STATEMENT: The program participation statement on the registration must be signed in order to process your child's registration.  The emergency treatment form must be signed and returned to our office before the first day of class.

DISCIPLINE POLICY: It is expected that students will take responsibility for their own behavior and act appropriately to foster a positive environment for all participants. If a student should act inappropriately during the program, a warning will be given to the student and to the parents on the day of the infraction. If inappropriate behavior recurs, the child will be removed from the class and may be removed from the program. Severe or malicious infringement of the Pre-College rules or policies will result in immediate dismissal from the program.

FEES:The fee for each session is $40.00; this fee is due with each application.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:  A cancellation fee of $20.00 per course will be deducted from refunds requested by parent for reasons other than closed classes or class cancellations. Refunds will not be issued for students dismissed for disciplinary reasons.
