We receive opening announcements roughly on a monthly basis and many of our majors are or have been employed with area companies such as Air Force Research Laboratories, Cornerstone Research, Defense Research Associates, Mound Labs, Photon-X, Prime Control, SET Associates, Spectral Energetics, Spectral Energies.
  • Position: internship with AFRL
    Location: WPAFB, Dayton, OH

    AFRL/RXBT has a position for an undergraduate student majoring in physical science or engineering to assist with laboratory operations associated with measuring and interpreting thermoelectric materials performance. Potential laboratory equipment usage includes operating a Seebeck Measurement System for materials parameter measurement and electronic equipment used to measure thermoelectric performance. The student will also be involved in materials synthesis (primarily organic materials) and preparation of samples. The candidate will work with computer to perform testing, and will program using LabView, Visual Basic, etc. Prior programming experience is not required, but would be beneficial. The student will also be involved with electronic circuit fabrication, mechanical fabrication and setup, data analysis, etc. The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and will work at Wright-Patterson AFB. The candidate must adhere to Air Force safety procedures, security procedures, and proper care and maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment. It is expected that the student will work 10-16 hours per week during the academic year, and work full-time in the summer. Work hours are flexible. Contact: Dr. Lok

Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Choose Ohio First
    Choose Ohio First Scholarship (COF) Eligibility—Wright State University: Starting Fall 2009 - For use during the 2009–2010 academic year Students who are interested in being considered for the COF Scholarship at Wright State University must be one of the following: Current Wright State undergraduate students Admitted high school students entering Wright State as undergraduate students this fall Graduate degree-seeking students and meet all of these basic criteria: Ohio Resident Intend to enroll or be currently enrolled in a STEMM program (view list of eligible majors) Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (current college GPA for Wright State or transfer students, or cumulative high school GPA for admitted high school students) Admitted high school students entering Wright State as undergraduate students this fall MUST have received a five (5) or higher on the WSU math placement test. Deadline for consideration for a COF Scholarship is February 4 (meet basic criteria and have accepted additional criteria). Notification of awards will begin approximately mid-March for new students and mid-May for current, continuing students. See the COF home page for more information.
  • Merrill Andrews Memorial Scholarship
  • SMART Program
    Two-year scholarships are being offered to sophomores (US citizens only) by the Department of Defense. There is a requirement to work with a scientist/engineer at Wright-Patterson AFB and a service obligation after graduation. Please contact Dr. Lok C. Lew Yan Voon for additional information.


  • Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship
    This is a program by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Approximately 100 UGs (US citizens only) who will be juniors in Fall 2006 will be selected as Hollings scholars Fall 2006.

  • AAPT Scholarships
    The American Association of Physics Teachers is offering two $2,000 scholarship for future high-school physics teachers. This scholarship is available only to U.S. citizens attending a U.S. school. Undergraduate students in, or planning to enter, physics teacher preparation curricula and high-school seniors planning to enter such curricula are eligible. Successful applicants, normally two per year, will receive a stipend of up to $2,000. The scholarship may be granted to an individual for each of four years. Deadline: December 1, 2005.
  • International Research Experience for Students
    Deadline: Feb 15, Sep 15
