Senior Projects (PHY494/499)
Credit Hour: 3 credits - repeatable
Goals
This is the capstone course in the physics program.
Students must bring together all they have learned
to complete an extensive individual design/development/research
project similar to one they might encounter as a working professional.
This will require a literature search, laboratory and/or computer work,
analysis and interpretation of results, an extensive written
final report, and a seminar presentation.
Prerequisites
Senior standing in Physics and permission of the department.
Writing Intensive
This course is writing intensive.
The objectives of the writing are
- "To help students think critically about course material by
writing about it.
- "To give students a chance to exercise their editing skills.
- "To help students learn the conventions of writing in their own
field of study.
Written progress reports will be required on a regular basis.
The writing evaluation will be based upon the written final report.
