Student Honors Association
Student Honors Association is open
to all students enrolled in the Honors program. SHA sponsors student
and student/faculty service and social activities, plans spring break
trips, and elects the students who serve on the Honors Committee.
National Honor Societies
Phi Kappa Phi
Chartered at Wright State in the spring of 1990, Phi Kappa Phi honors students from all majors
who graduate near the top of their classes. Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is an honor that lasts a lifetime.
Only a small percentage of each class is invited to join. One year's dues and initiation fees are
$35. PKP also has an attractive graduate fellowship program.
Phi Theta Kappa
An honorary society for two-year colleges, Phi Theta Kappa, chartered an alumni chapter at Wright State
in 1993. Phi Theta Kappans who transfer to Wright State to complete their baccalaureate may apply for
a $1500 (one-year renewable) scholarship. The Honors Program encourages the participation of
Phi Theta Kappa members, particularly in departmental Honors. Honors courses completed at
other institutions will count toward completion of Honors degree requirements at Wright State.
Consult with the Honors advisor.
Alpha Lambda Delta
An honorary society for first-year students that is administered through University College, Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) celebrates its 18th year on campus in 2005. Membership is by invitation only to students who earn a 3.5 GPA or better during their first year. Approximately 100 students join each year. Alpha Lambda Delta sometimes combines with the Student Honors Association for activities. ALD members are eligible to apply for eighteen to twenty $3000 graduate fellowships that are offered each year. Contact Jeanne Fraker, Associate Dean of University College, for more information.
