Vive la France!
Stephanie Bienz (senior, modern languages) participated in the Student Ambassador Program to France in July 2007 for Paris and Basque country cultural studies. The group's first week was spent in Paris, then in St. Jean de Luz/Cibourne (in the south of France in an area known as Basque country), and then back to Paris for the Bastille Day celebrations on July 14. Below are a few pictures that Stephanie shared with us. Vive la France!

Arc de Carrousel, Place de Concorde, Arc de Triomphe as seen from the Louvre |
|
Sacre Coeur Basilica at Montmartre -- There are many many steps to climb before getting to the Basilica, but it is worth the view. |
|
|
| Place des Vosges, Statue of Louis XIII -- A very beautiful park and one of the most expensive places to live in Paris. The area was originally created by Henri IV; evidence of his rich tradtions can still be seen today. |
A side view of the Louvre -- It was raining the day this photo was taken. Stephanie commented that looking up from inside the triangle and watching the rain fall was really cool. |

| A view of Notre Dame from a bridge over the Seine --The place where Stephanie stayed was close to Notre Dame, so she passed by this amazing structure every day that she was in Paris. |
The WSU group standing on a bridge over the Seine -- Notre Dame (in the background) is on an island in the middle of the river. |

|
| Temple d'Amour -- A small pavilion located on the grounds of the Versailles Palace near the Petit Trianon (a "cottage" built for Marie Antoinette) |
The Hall of Mirrors at the Versailles Palace -- This palace was where Louis XIV made his home because Paris was too dirty. |
