Film Documentary

Peter Elfers, Roger Fecher, and John Platig researched film and photos of Ohio mental institutions for Professor Mark Lyons of the Wright State University Motion Picture Program in order to assist with the post-production of a film documentary project called "Lest We Forget," a chronicle of the conditions of mental institutions before they were reformed in the 1970s. They also obtained photographs documenting the living conditions of the Apple Creek and Orient Developmental Institutions during the 1960s. They additionally researched general history of Ohio's mental institutions.

The group tracked changes in the politically correct terminology of mental disorders and the institutional names for them, trends of the past and present, and, by visiting the Columbus Developmental Center, were able to interact with its residents and administration.
