Creation of a Filing System

Emily Ernest, Mindy Kahlig, and Jessica Warman worked with Choices in Community Living (CICL) to develop a more efficient manner for employees to properly and systematically manage client and employee information.

Requested by CICL, the students developed a visual way to communicate its filing process to employees. They also created a wall-reference chart to accompany the system, a compact, linear guide for referencing documents, and finally, a straightforward approach to saving and purging files. With the use of flow charts, the students updated the organizational system in order to make it a more logical and beneficial method of organization.

Various types of charts and several proposals were presented to CICL, each offering viable designs and variations. The wall-reference filing system chosen to be implemented is shown below and was created by Emily Ernest.
